Who we are
SANAGA LAND INTERNATIONAL LLC ("Sanaga Land", "we") is the data controller for the personal data collected through this website. Our contact for privacy matters: [email protected].
What we collect, when, and why
The website sanagaland.com does not collect personal data from visitors who simply browse the site. Specifically, we do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioral profiling cookies.
Personal data is collected only when you actively contact us:
By email. When you write to editorial@, press@, or [email protected], we receive your email address, your name (if provided), and the content of your message. This information is processed solely to respond to you and, where relevant, to evaluate a manuscript submission. Manuscripts are kept on file for the duration of the editorial evaluation, then destroyed unless we proceed to a publishing contract.
Newsletter subscription. When you subscribe to our editorial newsletter via the form on /newsletter/ or in the site footer, we collect your email address, your interface language (English or French), the timestamp of your subscription, and your topic subscription status. The legal basis is your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR), confirmed via a double opt-in mechanism: a confirmation link is emailed to you, and your subscription is only activated when you click that link. We send no more than a handful of messages each year. You can unsubscribe at any time using the one-click List-Unsubscribe link present in every message we send (RFC 8058 compliant). Subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe, or after 3 years of inactivity, whichever comes first.
Lawful basis (GDPR)
For visitors in the European Union, we rely on Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (necessary for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures, in the case of manuscript submissions) and Article 6(1)(a) (consent, in the case of newsletter subscriptions).
California rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to request information about the personal data we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data.
Your rights
Wherever you are located, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase the personal data we hold about you, to object to its processing, and to data portability. Write to [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.
For the newsletter specifically, you can unsubscribe in one click via the List-Unsubscribe link present in every message — no need to contact us.
Data retention
Email correspondence is kept for as long as the editorial relationship is active. Manuscripts are kept for the duration of the evaluation. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Hosting and processors
We rely on the following processors (Article 28 GDPR), all subject to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) for international data transfers:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — website hosting, DNS, Email Routing for inbound email, and Turnstile anti-spam challenge.
- Resend, Inc. (United States) — outbound email infrastructure (newsletter), Audiences and Topics for subscription management, and email delivery analytics limited to bounce and complaint signals (no open or click tracking — see below).
- Google LLC (United States, Google Workspace / Gmail) — final recipient mailbox for inbound email forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing.
No data is transferred to advertising networks.
Cookies and tracking
We do not set any third-party cookie. We do not use any web analytics tool, behavioral tracker, or advertising pixel. We do not track email opens or clicks.
The Cloudflare Turnstile anti-spam challenge embedded in our newsletter form may set a short-lived technical session cookie strictly necessary to verify that the form is submitted by a human (not a bot). This cookie is not used for tracking, lasts less than 24 hours, and is exempt from prior consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (cookies strictly necessary).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date.
